Our Dream home could have been a nightmare
We recently had a Building Survey carried out on what we thought was our dream home. The Surveyor met us at the property and showed us the issues he was concerned with as we walked around the cottage. As the building is very old we were prepared for some problems but after reading the report, which was very thorough, the costs involved to rectify problems with the roof structure and dampness proved to be too expensive. The photos and sketches in the report were a great help to us as we are not all Surveyors! We are still looking for our idyllic cottage and will back in touch again with you once we find it. Our Surveyor is a Listed Building Expert
As we are first time buyers of a Listed Property our knowledge is quite limited and we were concerned we might end up buying a problem property which could cost us thousands of pounds in the future. We needn't have worried as our Surveyor was a Listed Building expert who explained any problems clearly. He also advised us on how to carry out repairs and which materials were suitable to use on an old, period building and which ones to avoid. Our Survey gave us great peace of mind.
